The full form of HVAC is Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. These systems include air conditioner at home to the huge equipment utilized for industrial purposes and apartment blocks as well. HVAC meaning is same as its functions as well. It aims to offer thermal control and indoor comfort. It is designed with the help of the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer. The AC boxes outside your home or offices are a part of HVAC systems.
They are used in industrial complexes, skyscrapers, apartments, and large interior environment. They are also deployed where there are health regulations which need the temperature and humidity to be set at a specific level with the help of air taken from the external environment. The heating and cooling systems used in your own home environment are a different form of HVAC.
Types of HVAC Systems
- Single-stage systems
These systems are used for the environments which are prone to hot or cold climates. They are designed to produce only heating and cooling. They are low in cost but also efficient at the same time.
- Multi-stage systems
There are many models available in the market that offer variable fan speeds to save on the energy as well as the energy costs, but they are proven inefficient when it comes to its comparison with multi-stage systems. Hence, they are deemed more costly to operate in the long run.
- Zoned systems
They are designed to cool or heat different spaces in your house. It is made possible by creating zone valves and dampers inside the vents and ductwork that particularly block the air flow. If you have a large property, this is deemed to be of an immeasurable value because it blocks the system from heating or cooling spaces in the rooms which are used very less.
- Humidifiers and dehumidifiers
HVAC systems also focus on controlling the humidity in the installed spaces, hence an option to install humidifiers and dehumidifiers is added to heating and cooling systems. This system is compatible for the people living in dry and tropical regions. Speaking of which, many people prefer installing humidifier or dehumidifier system separately so that they are able to control the humidity of their surroundings with no need of turning on the air conditioner.
